Just watched all but two episodes last night, thanks to ABC publicity. Although the show has some annoying 'yoof TV' quirks - orange filters, faked-up footage mixed with the real thing - it's nonetheless a solid, comprehensive and informative look at Oz rock, especially the Vanda and Young/Alberts dynasty.
Good: lots of Harry Vanda, Angus Young (demonstrating how to write AC/DC tunes!) and other crusty old rocker interviews.
Bad: yet another Michael Gudinski interview. Neccessary, though - people forget how influential Mushroom was back in the 70s.
Ugly: some of the costuming in the 70s show. Oooh baby.
The show omits much interesting material, and glosses whole scenes in minutes or seconds, but this is inevitable given time constraints.
I haven't watched the 80s and 90s episodes yet - I hope they maintain the quality. It's harder to do a decent retrospective of the recent past without falling prey to industry priorities...
